Shelby Jean Padilla (1942-2024)

Shelby Padilla, 81, of Landrum, South Carolina, passed away on Tuesday, April 23rd, 2024.

Shelby was born in Buncombe County, North Carolina in 1942 to Bill and Edna Justice, she had three sisters and one brother. Upon graduating high school, Shelby spent most of her career working as a legal secretary.

Shelby enjoyed being a mother and grandmother, and spending time with her family and friends. She enjoyed cooking, listening to music, singing, and writing. Shelby was a cancer survivor and although her cancer recurred and she was actively receiving chemotherapy treatment, she was optimistic about the future. Shelby’s strength and independence were admirable. She will be remembered for her beautiful blue eyes, being sharp and witty, and her spunky personality.

Shelby was preceded in death by her mother, father, two sisters, brother, and two granddaughters. She is survived by her youngest sister, June Murray, son, Michael Emory, daughter, Melisa Emory [Donald Robertson], five grandchildren, and 11 great-grandchildren.

Shelby (Big Nana) will be missed and forever in our hearts. Rest in Heaven’s Glory.
