Obituary

Helen Marlene Dawson Ferguson, daughter of the late Harry E. Dawson, Jr. and the late Helen Graham Dawson, went home to be with Jesus on November 29, 2022. Mollie, as she was known to her friends, was born on July 31, 1953 in Georgetown, S.C. She was a graduate of Winyah High School, Class of 1971.

She attended Winthrop College, and graduated from Columbia College with a Bachelor of Arts in Special Education, and earned a Masters in Special Education from Converse College. She taught at Brooke High School in Spartanburg, Carver’s Bay Middle School in Georgetown County, and she taught the Hearing Impaired at Pine Street Elementary School in Spartanburg for 14 years. Mollie was a member of Morningside Baptist Church in Spartanburg.

She was an accomplished pianist, and enjoyed reading and cardmaking.

Mollie was predeceased by her parents, and a sister, Angela Dawson Bradford. She is survived by a brother, Harry (Buddy) E. Dawson III (Vicki), and her three elderly dogs, Topper, Dora, and Junior, who were the sunshine of her life.
