Leona Harris Thompson entered eternal rest on Saturday, December 19, 2020. A native of Spartanburg County, she was the daughter of the late William Foster and the late Hattie H. Morton. She was a graduate of Florence Chapel High School and a longtime, faithful member of the Travelers Rest Baptist Church. Ms, Thompson was employed as a cook at the Truckstop of America in Duncan for 29 years. She was so well respected at her job that several menu items are named after her. When not working, she loved going to church, attending the Senior Citizen Center, and watching the Young and the Restless.
Ms. Thompson leaves to cherish fond memories: five children, Eloise Drummond of Wellford, Rose Nesbitt of Lyman, Willie Junior Harris of Spartanburg, Sharon Harris of Duncan, and Jackie Salters of Duncan; six siblings, Ruby Norman of Spartanburg, Sylvia Ann Harris of Wellford, Jerline Giddens of New York, NY, Pearline Morton of Moore, Ernest Morton of Spartanburg, and Bobbie Jean Morton of Moore; seven grandchildren; twelve great grandchildren; and two great great grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Johnny Harris and granddaughter, Tamatha Harris.
