On September 28, 2020 at Kings County Hospital in Brooklyn, NY, Mr. Brady Dawkins Jr. departed this life to be with his Heavenly Father. A native of Spartanburg, SC, he was born to the late Brady and Rosa Lee Dawkins, on April 12, 1941. Brady was a graduate of George Washington Carver High School Class of 1961. After high school Brady served in the United States Navy during the Vietnam war where he received many accolades such as the Vietnam service medal, the National Defense Service Medal, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal (Dominican Republic) and a Navy Unit Commendation.
For over 40 years Brady has worked for a number of charter bus tour companies such as Dominico, Academy, and World Wide Wide tours, and MTA Access -A-Ride. Brady has had the pleasure of touring with celebrities such as Dolly Parton and Ziggy Marley to name a few. Brady Was a hard working man who loved his wife, children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Brady loved domestic and international travel, entertaining friends and family, watching sports and also enjoying one of his favorite meal of trotters, listeners and waggers.
After retirement, Brady became a faithful member of Mount Zion Missionary Baptist Church in Brooklyn New York, under the leadership of Reverend Leon C. Adams.
He leaves to cherish fond memories: his wife, Willie Mae Dawkins of Bklyn, NY; children, Cynthia Dawkins Simon (Vernon) of Bklyn, NY,Charles Dawkins of Bklyn, NY, Tabitha Dawkins of Bklyn, NY, Gerard Dawkins of Bklyn, NY, Sonia Rivera (Juan) of Palm Bay, FL, Kristy Hines of Bronx, NY, Sho Roberts (Paul) of Houston,TX, and Jeanine Hines of Charlotte, NC; a brother, Lonnie Dawkins (Shirley) of Spartanburg, SC; a sister, Marzetta Hartmon of Washington, DC; sisters in law, Angelina Jamison and Jonette Richardson both of Jacksonvill, NC; and a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, goddaughters, and special friends.
