Betty J Brown

Mrs. Betty J. Prater Brown aka Momma Joe entered into eternal rest on September 17, 2020 at the home.  She was born on January 20, 1946 to the late Calvin Prater and Allise Norton Prater. Mrs. Brown, a native of Spartanburg, SC, was a member of St. James Holiness Temple of Inman and visited various churches during her lifetime.

She leaves to cherish fond memories:  Full Time Companion, Fred Henderson, Sr.; three daughters, Mrs. Janice (Johnny Lee) Pearson, Mrs. Sylvia Pitts, and Ms. Wanda Brown, all of Spartanburg; four sons, Mr. Ronald (Lorriane) Prater, Mr. Bennie (Brenda) Brown, and Mr. Benjamin (Ponice) Brown; Mr. James Holbert, all of Spartanburg; stepdaughter, Betty Hill of Spartanburg; three stepsons, Mr. David (Gloria) Henderson, Mr. Fred Henderson Jr., and Mr. Jimmy (Sabrina) Henderson, all of Spartanburg; honorary daughters, Lillie (Henry) Greene and Tina Brown and an honorary son, John Albert Foster, all of Spartanburg.  Additionally, she left behind an "honorary granddaughter, Katerria Brown and an "honorary grandson, Quandavious Brown, both of the home; twenty-eight grandchildren; forty-eight great grandchildren; and four great, great grandchildren; three sisters, Mrs. Hattie Lee Dawkins, Mrs. Mary (Earl) Allen, and Mrs. Jannie Linder; a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.

Betty was preceded in death by her husband Bennie Brown; her son, Richard Eugene Prater; daughter, Lisa Lynne Brown,  grandson, Roshawn Robinson; sisters, Mrs. Martha Benson and Mrs. Carrie Jackson; brothers, Mr. Bennie Prater, Mr. Leroy Prater, and Mr. Lewis Prater.
