April 4, 1973 – January 24, 2025
Tyson Maurice Collins answered his Father's call on Friday, January 24, 2025 at the age of 51 at Spartanburg Regional Hospice Home. A native of Spartanburg, SC, he was the son of Ophelia Gail Collins and, Pamela and Roy Collins, Jr.
Tyson attended Boiling Springs High School, Byrnes High School and Paul M. Dorman High School. While attending Dorman, Tyson played football, ran track and set a school record in track. Tyson served his country by enlisting in the United States Navy after high school. Tyson was a quick learner and was able to accomplish anything he put his mind to. Tyson attended Spartanburg Community College and received Certifications in Industrial Electricity, Welding, and Injection Molding.
Tyson worked at Plastic Omnium in Greer, SC in production, and as an Operator before being promoted to Crane Operator. Tyson had a desire to start his own trucking business, so he enrolled in classes at ACE Driving Academy in Greer, SC. After successful completion, he obtained his Commercial Driver's License. Tyson worked as a company driver for a couple of trucking employers with NFI in Greer, SC being the last company he drove for before he accomplished his goal and became the owner of Entyson Trucking, LLC.
Tyson was talented, intelligent, and loved writing poems. He was an avid sports fan and had several favorite teams. Tyson was a fan of Florida State Seminoles football team, his favorite college basketball team was the University of North Carolina Tarheels, the Indianapolis Colts was his favorite NFL team, and his favorite MLB team was the Houston Astros.
Left to cherish his fond and loving memories are his parents; Ophelia Gail Collins of Spartanburg, SC and Pamela and Roy Collins, Jr. of Rock Hill, SC, one daughter; Ty'Shauna Collins of Spartanburg, SC, two sisters; Dr. Tracy Collins of Riverview, Florida and Ashley Collins of Rock Hill, SC; one niece, Sophia Collins of Riverview, FL; maternal grandmother, Carrie Smith of Woodruff, SC; fiancé, Kristen Atkins of Inman, SC; uncles, Robert Evans of Inman, SC, Rev. Robert E. Collins (Jeanette), Rev. Willie B. Collins Surratt and Rev. Tonnie L. Collins (Faye) all of Moore, SC; aunts, Mary Clark of Moore, SC, Karen Moore of Woodruff, SC and Linda Surratt of Spartanburg, SC; and a host of cousins and friends.
Tyson was preceded in death by his grandparents; William Lewis, Roy Collins, Sr. and Queenie Collins; great grandparents, Caleb and Mary Bowers, Rev. James W. Surratt and Lucille Surratt; an aunt, Sara Proctor; an uncle, William Young; and a cousin, Kendrian Lewis.
Tyson was the life of the party, loved to travel and everyone knew him. He had a caring and loving heart. Tyson was very family-oriented and loved spending time with his family, friends and those he loved. He would check on his loved ones to ensure they were fine. Tyson was the true epitome of what the word "family" means. Tyson touched everyone he encountered, and he will truly be missed. His spirit will forever live in our hearts, never forgotten.
