Obituary

Rosemarie "Rosie" Joyce Martin

August 26th, 1939 – May 12th, 2024

Rosemarie Joyce Martin, 84, of Inman, SC, entered her heavenly home on Sunday, May 12th on Mother's Day leaving a void that cannot be filled. Rose was born August 26th, 1939, in Torrington, CT to Robert Ferry and Grace Halsted and was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin and friend to many. Rose was a devoted mother to Deborah Hunt (Brett) and Ronald Schmidt, her pride and joys, who cared for her throughout her battle with Alzheimer's disease until her final days.

In addition to her two children, she leaves behind a sister Catherine St Amant of N. Adams, MA, three grandchildren, Christine Kirby of Inman, SC, Kyle Schmidt and Jade Schmidt of Copake, NY, and a great-grandchild, Taylor Turner (Madison) of Spartanburg, SC, who will never forget the love she brought to their lives.

Rose was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Raymond Martin of Inman, SC, five brothers, Richard Ferry of Winsted, CT, William Ferry (Beverly) of Pittsfield, MA, Ernest Ferry (Catherine) of Winsted, CT, Albert Ferry (Diane) of Pittsfield, MA, and Edwin Ferry (Patricia) of Torrington, CT and two sisters, Roberta Newman (George) of Winsted, CT and Henrietta Plante (Joseph) of Sweetwater, TN and a granddaughter, Halle Schmidt of Copake, NY.

Rose was a homemaker most of her life and a lover of nature. She took special joy in cooking for her family, collecting jewelry and books, going to yard sales and markets to find her special treasures. There wasn't a plant, bird or gemstone she couldn't tell you all about and she loved her fur baby "Daisy" who was always at her side.

May she rest in peace knowing that she was deeply loved and will be dearly missed by all who had the privilege of being part of her life's journey.

The family will hold a private gathering to Celebrate Rose's life at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family prefers donations be made to your local Humane Society or to the Alzheimer's Association @ https://act.alz.org
