Obituary

Ronald Lee Heffler, born on January 10, 1948, in Baltimore, Maryland, peacefully passed away on January 24, 2026, in Spartanburg, South Carolina. He leaves behind a legacy shaped by his dedication to family, unwavering loyalty, and a strong faith.

A skilled Welder/Pipefitter by trade, Ronald dedicated much of his life to providing for his loved ones and learned to cook and enjoyed doing so after losing his wife. His family was not just an important part of his life; they were his very hobby. Ronald was a proud father to Jack Heffler, who resides in Bengies, Maryland, and daughters Allyson Heffler of Boiling Springs, South Carolina and Ashley Heffler of Gaffney, South Carolina, and son-in-law, Robert Sparks of Gaffney, South Carolina. Each of his children cherished the time spent with their devoted father, who immersed himself in their lives and the lives of his beloved grandchildren: Makenzie Hudson from Boiling Springs, and Shiloh, Isaiah, and Levi Sparks from Gaffney, and his many nieces and nephews who adored him.

Ronald's fierce loyalty extended beyond his immediate family. He was a pillar of strength and support, known for his compassionate caregiving, especially during the challenging times spent caring for his late wife, Katherine Francis Heffler, with whom he shared 30 wonderful years of marriage. His commitment to family was matched only by his deep spiritual faith, which found expression in his attendance at Gateway Baptist Church in Boiling Springs, South Carolina, and his service as a Deacon in Maryland.

In addition to his nurturing spirit, Ronald was a remarkable athlete, having played semipro baseball after school and driving a bright yellow hot rod—a symbol of his vibrant personality. He was preceded in death by his wife Katherine, along with brothers Robert and Joseph Heffler, whose memories will forever reside in the hearts of those who knew him.

Ronald is also survived by his sister, Debbie Dunphy of Baltimore, Maryland, and brother, Jeff Heffler of Stewartstown, Pennsylvannia. He will be remembered not only for his joyful spirit and love for yardwork and mowing, but also for the strong bonds he nurtured within his family, creating a legacy that will endure through generations.

As we celebrate the life of Ronald Lee Heffler, we honor a man who exemplified what it means to be a devoted family man, a loyal friend, and a faithful servant. He touched the lives of many and will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
