Rev. James Todd Stewart passed away on July 24, 2026, at Duke University Hospital, leaving behind a legacy rich in faith, compassion, and enduring love for family and community.

Born to Donnie Stewart and Linda Foster, both of whom preceded him in death, Rev. Stewart was also preceded by his brothers Kenny, Andy, and Matthew Stewart. The values he inherited from his family and his early years became the foundation of a life dedicated to loving God and cherishing his own family above all else—an accomplishment he regarded as his proudest.

Rev. Stewart found lifelong joy in his marriage to Terri Stewart, with whom he celebrated 25 years of partnership, laughter, and unwavering support. Together, they created a nurturing home and a testament to mutual devotion.

He is lovingly survived by his wife, Terri Stewart, and his children: Dee Carree, Tim Stewart, Anna Stewart, Josh Stewart, and Chelsie Harper. His bond with his sisters, Tammy Stewart and Ashlee McCall, was deep and lasting. He is also remembered fondly by his friend, Brian Wade, whose companionship was a source of comfort and enrichment.

A man of many passions, Rev. Stewart found joy in songwriting and playing guitar—a gift he often shared with those around him. Fishing provided peaceful moments of reflection, and his unwavering support for the South Carolina Gamecocks was a source of pride and camaraderie. These interests painted a vivid picture of a man who embraced life's simple pleasures and celebrated its many gifts.

Rev. Stewart’s life and legacy will be honored with a Visitation with Family on August 1, 2026, from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. at E.L. Collins Funeral Home, LLC., located at 3120 S Church St Ext, Spartanburg, SC 29306. A Celebration of Life service will follow at 11:00 a.m., at the same location.
