On July 18, 2020, Mr. Melton D. Shannon entered into eternal rest after a long, extended illness.  A native of Spartanburg, he was the son of the late Annie Ruth Shannon Campbell and the late Eddie Shannon.  Melton was educated in the Spartanburg District 7 Schools and served in the United States Army.  He loved to play the piano, organ and sing.

He leaves cherished and precious memories to his children:  Jewell Harris Johnson (Terrence), Tirun Shannon, and Shannon Nicole Shannon, all of Spartanburg; siblings, James Reid (Pat) of Spartanburg, Mildred Miller (Joe) of Moore, Hollis Reid (Rose) of Trenton, NJ, Carolyn Williams (Michael) of Spartanburg, Mary Michalak (Christopher) of Ewing, NJ, and Gregory Shannon of Spartanburg; six grandchildren; special friend, Carolyn Mills; and a host of relatives and friends.
