Obituary

On Tuesday, March 25, 2025, Mary Madeline Freeman entered eternal rest.   Born in Livingstone, AL, she was the daughter of the late Charlie and Julia Ann Polion.  Mrs. Freeman relocated to Summitt, NJ and began a long career in nursing and as a medical assistant.  She was employed by the Overlook Hospital until her retirement, and was a member of Pilgrim Baptist Church where she served as a Deaconese.  An avid reader and traveler, she was a no nonsense professional who went out of way to serve her patients and others iin need.

She leaves to cherish fond memories: her siblings, Annie Peterson of Spartanburg, SC, and Joseph Brown, Albrightville, PA;  niece, Annjeanette Lightner of Spartanburg, SC, Michelle Brown of Summitt, NJ, Deborah Polion and Betty Jean Polion, both of Tuscaloosa, AL; nephews, Harry Brown of Summitt, NJ, Rev. Lorenzo(Debra) James, Earnest Washington, Lloyd (Sharon) Polion, Morris Polion, Frederick Polion, and Tony Polion,all of Tuscaloosa, AL; sister-in-law, Willie Anne Black of Tuscaloosa, AL; and a host other relatives and friends.
