Obituary

Mrs. Lucille Rogers was born in Spartanburg, South Carolina to the late Brady and Rosa Lee Dawkins, on September 28, 1938.  Lucille graduated from  Carver High School in her hometown and after, relocated to Brooklyn, NY.  There she wedded Willie Rogers on July 17, 1964.  Lucille briefly worked for the New York Transit Authority.  Years later, Lucille and her family moved to Laurelton, New York where she became a member of The Greater Allen A.M.E. Cathedral and served on the South Carolina Club.   Lucille retired after 30 years of employment at Goldwater Hospital on Roosevelt Island in Queens, NY.  She was dedicated to her work as a Nurse's Aid.    After retiring, Lucille devoted her life to her many grandchildren.

Lucille was a goodhearted person who always kept others in mind in whatever she did.  She was an avid traveler who loved to explore the wonders of the world.

On March 8, 2019, at Long Island Jewish Hospital in Valley Stream, NY, Lucille Rogers departed this life to be with her heavenly Father.   Her sisters, Elwillie and Mary Lee Dawkins preceded her in death.

She leaves to cherish her memory: her loving husband, Willie Rogers of Laurelton, Queens; her sons, Reginald Rogers (Gia) of Queens, NY, Eric Rogers (Shavel) of Brooklyn, NY, Lionel Rogers of Atlanta, GA; twelve grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, two brothers: Brady Dawkins (Willie) of Brooklyn, NY and Lonnie Dawkins (Shirley) of Spartanburg, SC; one sister,  Marzetta Hartmon of Washington, D.C.; three nephews, seven nieces and a host of other relatives and friends.
