Obituary

Lt. Col. Mattie L. Glenn, USAF Retired, of 880 Rogerstown Road, Jonesville, SC entered eternal rest on Friday, August 4,2017. A native of Union County, she was the daughter of the late Paul and Selmer Glenn.  Lt. Col. Glenn enlisted in the US Air Force in 1964 and faithfully served her country as a Nursing Administrator for 20 years, retiring in 1984. During her service, she received the Air Force Longevity Service Ribbon, National Defense Service Medal, Air Force Outstanding Unit Award, Meritorious Service Medal, and Air Force Commendation Medal.  After retiring, Lt. Col. Glenn returned to Union County where she was active in the church and initiated the Community Intersectional Prayer Group.  Additionally, she served her community as a member of the Union County Foster Care Review Board, Union County Arts Council, Community Action Board, and the Marian B. Wilkerson Federated Club.  She was a Life Member of the NAACP.  The last of thirteen siblings, Lt. Col. Glenn is survived by nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends.
