John Francis Mackey (Monte) was born April 5, 1950 in Brevard, NC to the late Junie E. Mackey and the late Charlie A. Whitmire,  He departed this earthly life on April 11, 2020.  John was a native of Hendersonville, NC.  He enjoyed working in construction, fishing, watching westerns and singing.  John was a collector of pictures as he so loved pulling them out and remembering the "back in the day" things.

John was preceded in death by four sisters, Thelma Mackey, Mary Turner, Shirley Burnett, Ruby Mackey; two brothers, Thomas Mackey and Ronald Mackey; and an aunt, Louise Walker.

John leaves to cherish his memory: his wife, Rebecca Mackey; five daughters, Ruby Mackey of SC, Kandie Belton (Cory), Jositta Mackey, Johnetta Mackey, all of Winston-Salem, NC, and Cassie Mackey of Statesville, NC; three sons, Ronald Gamble of Asheville, NC, John Mackey, Jr. of Winston-Salem, NC, and Casey Mackey of Raleigh, NC; twenty grandchildren (Antonio, Desire, Quitin, Tymark, Larell, Darius, Diamond, Alyssa, Joemell, Jamia, Jania, Shauntaye, Naomi, Savion, Gabby, Johnella, Markus, Jenna, Carmelo, and Karrine).  Three great grandchildren, Tymark, Jr., Amanda, and Kinzie; four siblings, Rosalyn Foster (Levon) of Belle Glade, FL, Fredericka Clark, Willie Mackey, and Theophilous Mackey, all of Hendersonville, NC; and numerous nephews, nieces and cousins.
