On Saturday, August 9, 2025, Mrs. Jimmie Norris Jones entered into eternal rest. Born in Knoxville, TN to the late William Carey and Nannie Jones Norris, she was raised in Spartanburg County. After completing her education, Jimmie relocated to Brooklyn, NY where she began a successful career as a Cosmetologist along with her sister Catherine "Cat" Verna Lewis. There she met Mr. Launey Jones, Sr. whom she wed and to their matrimony they had one son, the late Launey "Fuji" Jones, Jr. In the 1980's, Jimmie and Launey moved back to Spartanburg where she continued her business. Jimmie and Launey enjoyed a long, loving and successful marriage until his death in 2006.
Jimmie was a faithful, loyal and proud member of Travelers Rest Missionary Baptist Church. She was well known for her fundraisers, especially "Pennies for Heaven" and decorating the Sanctuary with beautiful Poinsettias. Jimmie and her sister Cat placed Poinsettias throughout the sanctuary "In Memory of" and "In Honor of" to remember those who had transitioned. Jimmie was dependable, steady and knew how to handle business. She loved her family, friends, church family and clients and was always there for them in times of need.
Her survivors include her daughter; Launett Billups, grandchildren; Kimberlee Billups, Nehcole Billups, Jason Billups, Mylauney Billups, Devan Billups, and Deyjauneh Billups, great grandsons; Master, Lord, Theo, Dy'eir, and Camren, four great-great grandchildren, nephews; Arthur Lewis and Tracy Norris, great nieces; Nicole Lewis and Maleika Norris, great nephew; Jermaine Lewis, cousins raised in the home; George Edward Lillie, Arrie Fowler, Ruby Lillie, Mae Frances Baxter, Elizabeth Farr, Carol Young and Janet Young, special friend; Deborah Scott, and a host of other relatives and friends.
In addition to her husband, son and parents, Jimmie was preceded in death by her beloved sisters; Kay Frances "Kitty" Collins, Catherine "Cat" Verna Lewis and Doris Norris, nieces; Nan "Buddy" Lewis, Sharon Lewis and Darlene Norris, as well as cousins; Lillie Pearl Gibson,Nora Mae Anderson, Delilah Wilkins, and William "Bubble" Lillie.
Jimmie will be deeply missed by her family, friends, church family, clients and the community. The memory of Jimmie Norris Jones will forever be cherished, and her legacy will live on through the lives she touched.
