Emory Madlem Shoemaker, a loving husband, father, and respected member of the community, passed away peacefully at his home on January 13, 2026, just two days after celebrating his 71st birthday. Born on January 11, 1955, in Pennsylvania, Emory grew up in Bridgeport, Connecticut, where he formed many cherished memories that would last a lifetime.

Emory dedicated a significant portion of his life to his career. He started as a fast food manager, showcasing his leadership and commitment to providing quality service. Later, he transitioned into engineering within the manufacturing sector, where his expertise and diligence were highly valued by his colleagues and employers alike.

His military service as a Sergeant in the United States Army was a defining chapter in his life. Emory received several honors, including the National Defense Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal, and Sharpshooter Designation, reflecting his dedication and discipline during his service to his country.

Beyond his professional achievements, Emory was a man of many passions. He found joy in riding his Harley motorcycle, a pursuit that brought him a sense of freedom and adventure. His love for fishing and gardening allowed him to connect with nature and provided him with great solace. Emory was also an avid NASCAR fan, relishing the excitement and thrill that the races brought.

Emory was a devoted family man, married to Darlene Shoemaker for 42 wonderful years. He took great pride in being a good provider for his family, instilling values of love and commitment in his children. He is survived by his beloved wife, Darlene; daughters Amanda E. Shoemaker of South Carolina and Dawn Rozelle of Pennsylvania; and son Michael Richards. Additionally, Emory leaves behind cherished grandchildren: Jackson Emory Shoemaker of South Carolina, Logan Kohler of South Carolina, Austin Kohler, and Amber Moates of South Carolina. He is also survived by his mother-in-law, Velma Brown, and brother-in-law Michael Phanuef.

Emory was preceded in death by his parents, Emory and Lorraine Lavage Shoemaker, and his sister, Jessica Phanuef. He is remembered not only for his accomplishments but for his loving spirit and the profound impact he had on the lives of those who knew him. His legacy will continue through the love and memories shared by his family and friends.
