Obituary

Druella Elizabeth Byrd, lovingly known as "Dreamy" and "Grammy" to those closest to her, passed away peacefully on April 28, 2026, at the Spartanburg Medical Center. Born on October 2, 1952, in Spartanburg, South Carolina and raised in Pacolet, Druella’s life was a beautiful testament to faith, love, and dedication.

A proud member of the last graduating class of Benjamin Mays High School in Pacolet, SC, Druella carried the lessons of her youth with grace throughout her life. She devoted over twenty years working as a Tub Roller for Kohler, where her commitment and hard work were recognized and respected by all who worked alongside her.

Druella was a cherished member of Shiloh Baptist Church in Pauline, SC, where she let her spirit shine brightly. She was filled with the Holy Spirit, always smiling, loving, and kind, inspiring many with her positive outlook on life. Beyond singing in the Church Choir, she served fervently on the Usher Board and took on the role of an self-appointed unofficial Assistant Pastor. Her faith was not only a foundation for herself but also a beacon of hope and guidance to her congregation.

Her joyful spirit extended beyond church walls. Druella loved going to church, but she also delighted in the simple pleasures of life—treasured moments at the beach, shopping for clothing, and cruising around in her beloved Yellow Dodge Dart. These passions brought her comfort and joy, reflecting the vibrant soul she was known to be.

Druella’s family was the heart of her world. She is survived by her husband, Bobby Byrd; her devoted daughters, Tomika Jackson (Nicholas) and Alicia Byrd (Jerome); and her adoring grandchildren, Destiny Farr, Jaydin Jackson, and Andrew Jackson. Alongside these treasured family members, her faithful cat, Jinx, brought warmth and companionship. She was preceded in death by her father, Jacob McCollum, and her mother, Martha Wannamaker McCollum, whose memories she held dear.

Those who knew Druella remember her as a woman who lived with unwavering faith, a gentle kindness that touched everyone she met, and a radiant smile that never faded. She was a steadfast rock for her family, a nurturing friend, and a devoted servant of her church community.

In celebrating Druella Elizabeth Byrd’s life, we honor a remarkable woman whose legacy of love, faith, and joy continues to inspire all who had the blessing to know her. Though she has departed from this world, the warmth of her spirit remains alive in the hearts of her family, friends, and all who were graced by her presence.
