Obituary

With heavy hearts, we announce the peaceful passing of Mrs.Carson Leigh Mathes Grizzle at her home in Landrum, SC on June 30, 2024. Carson's journey was illuminated by love, laughter and caring.  She was blessed from the time she was born to her parents, Alan and Kristina Mathes in Asheville, NC.  At a very young age, Carson, developed an interest in animal husbandry with a particular emphasis in dairy cows.  While a student at East Henderson High School in Hendersonville, NC,  she served as the President of the FFA and participated in numerous 4H events.  She then furthered her studies at Berry College and Clemson University where she was employed in the Dairy Department.  Carson also worked at four major dairies.  At the time of her death, she was an Attendance Recovery Specialist at East Henderson High School.  Additionally, for many years Carson was a counselor at the Henderson County Dare  Camp.   A member of Upward Christian Fellowship in Flat Rock, she was a truly good person who influenced the lives of many young people in Henderson County.  Once she committed to a task she never quit until it was completed.  Although her time with us was much too short, her flame shone bright and leaves her family and the youth of Henderson County with a true example of a life well-lived.  Carson loved traveling, the beach, animals (dogs, cats, of course cows, but not horses), she especially enjoyed hunting with her dad.

Among those who mourn her loss are her husband, Nick Grizzle of the home; bonus daughter, Oaklyn Grizzle of the home; parents, Alan and Kristina Mathes of Flat Rock, NC; sisters, Chloe Mathes of Hendersonville and Jordan (Cory) Lindsey of Hendersonville, NC; grandparents, Edye (Carroll) Ward of East Flat Rock, NC and Vera Norton of Canton, NC; nieces, Aadison Lindsey, Harper Lindsey, Callie Lindsey and Zoe Mathes; uncles, Ronnie (Laura) Mathes of Waynesville, NC, Roger (Paula) Mathes of Canton, and Timothy (Shannon) Case of Flat Rock; aunts, Angie Reece of Waynesville, NC and Natalie Praytor of Hendersonville; cousins, Tiffany Mathes, Blake Mathes, Matishia Taylor, Tashina Warren, Allen Case, and Nathan Case; and a multitude of  friends and colleagues.

She was preceded in death by her grandfather, Tim Case.

Her legacy is one of love, compassion, and a profound impact on the lives she touched.  As we bid farewell to Carson, we find solace in the memories she leaves behind and take comfort in knowing that her spirit will forever reside in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to have shared in her journey. May she rest in eternal peace and her memories guide us through our grief.
