On the morning of August 23, 2017, the Angels of Mercy gave everlasting peace to Mrs. Carol Larita Smith. A native of Spartanburg, she was born on September 11, 1963 to the late Nehemiah Nesbitt and Charles A. Gory Nesbitt. Carol was the wife of Charles E. Smith, Jr. and the mother of five. Baptized at an early age, she attended POP Church where she served as the Pastor's Aide, cleaned, ushered, cooked & served. She attended Spartanburg District Seven schools. A loving mother, she who worked her entire life in and out of the home. Carol was her family's "lawyer", "human phone book", and "secretary". She always looked after others before herself. Her unique laugh will be missed. She was the life of the party.
In addition to her husband and mother, she is survived by two sons, Charles (Wanda) Smith and Shardrea (Brittany) Smith, both of Spartanburg; three daughters, Kizzy (James) Proctor, Charlena (Quintin) Smith and Brittany (Shon) Mallory, all of Spartanburg; twenty-three grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; a sister, Mrs. Varvarna (Eugene) Clarke of Spartanburg; a brother, Jerry Sims of Spartanburg; and a host of relatives and friends.
In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by a sister, Rosa "Doll" Nesbitt.
