IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Barbara Jean
Morton
May 15, 1960 – August 31, 2024
Barbara Jean Morton answered her Father's call on Saturday, August 31, 2024, at the age of 64 at Spartanburg Medical Center. A native of Spartanburg, SC, she was the daughter of the late Ernest Morton, Sr. and the late Hattie L. Harris Morton. At an early age she was baptized at the Travelers Rest Missionary Baptist Church and remained a faithful, hardworking member. She was a dedicated member of Travelers Rest Missionary Baptist Church Usher Board for several years. She attended Florence Chapel High School. During her earlier years, she was employed with Arkwright Mills, Startex Mills, Jackson Mills and several restaurants. She was well known for her Honey Bun Cakes.
Left to cherish her fond and loving memories are: two daughters; Shonta' Morton and Erica Morton of Moore, SC, one son; Telly Harris, Sr. and daughter-in-law, Bernnadette Harris both of Inman, SC, three sisters; Sylvia Harris of Wellford, SC, Jerline Giddens of New York, Pearline Morton of Moore, SC, one brother; Ernest Morton, Jr. and sister-in-law Vicky Morton of Spartanburg, SC; grandchildren; Zacourrious (Tuffin) Morton, Mikial (Mimi) Morton, Tyshunna (Miya) Harris, Shontavious (Tae) Gray, Tycoreyan (TY) Gray, Zamina Morton, Karmari Brewton, Telly Harris, Jr., Jabaree Ackbar, Zakkiyya Ackbar, Kenya Ackbar, Khalid Ackbar, Nazar Ackbar, Africa Ackbar, and great grandchildren; Naomi Morton, Kylee Morton, Amere Walls, Jakai Mallory, (future angel baby Sanders), devoted friends; Lewis Kelly, Minister Odell Sloan, devoted and loyal niece Terresa Harris and Sharon Harris (Communications Specialist), and a host of relatives and friends.
In addition to her parents, Ms. Morton was preceded in death by one brother; Johnnie Harris and two sisters; Leona Thompson and Ruby Norman.
Barbara Jean Morton was an honest warrior who insisted that everyone just "keep it real" with her. She loved her church, the usher board, peppermint candy, bottled cherry Pepsi, cross-stitching and watching good old-fashioned Westerns on TV. She was a courageous fighter and endured health issues, through it all she never complained. While being on Dialysis for over twenty years, she remained constant and steadfast in her faith. She loved to attend Bible Study and had a strong relationship with God. After her passing, she still gives to others. She was an organ donor and in return she helped transform many lives.
